Recently took up writing and drawing a weekly comic strip. Here are my first efforts.

Some sleeves I’ve been working on.

I love working on sleeves. There is nothing cooler than a tattoo sleeve that covers and flows well on an arm or leg.  As awesome as they are, they are also very time consuming and can sometimes take a long time to finish depending on the determination and financial situation of the client. So its always a big deal to me when one is finished or getting close to it.  Here are some of my most recent ones that are in the almost done pile.

This one I’d say is 90% done. This started out as a half sleeve that just kept growing. Most everything pictured here is healed except for the forearm flowers and they yellow accents on the snake.   It also continues onto the chest but the connection is not finished and thus not shown. If I had to take a guess at how many hours its been so far I’d say it should be between 16 to 20.  Of course we break it up into 2 to 3 hour sessions which is the way I recommend for sleeves.

Now this sleeve was finished in way less sessions, but each one was at least 4 to 6 hours long each one. My man Paige here was working on a tight schedule as he was finishing school and moving back to NY.

This particular sleeves is part cover up. There used to be a band of stars going around the forearm, which is easy to notice only if you know what you’re looking for. I can’t remember right now if there was something else I covered. The name under the arm was not done by me and we ran out of time before I got to fix it.   I think we got this whole arm done in about 4 sittings for a total of about 16 hours. ( My estimate, he might have a better idea).

Black and gray is mostly faster than color work, and in my opinion could be a lot less painful too.  This here arm came to me with a few scattered tattoos on it and it was my job to make it all blend in and look like one cohesive piece.  Hopefully I succeeded in my mission. What you guys think?

Things I did NOT tattoo on this arm:  upper cross and lettering, the kanji (Chinese letters) on the triceps and the dice with the banner. I did not do the lettering on the wrist although I did fix it.  Everything else was designed and tattooed by yours truly.

As of this picture the sleeve is pretty done, but like always there will be a few things to touch up and tighten up. Specially the elbow, rare is the time a tattoo heals perfectly the first time on an elbow.

I currently have a few more sleeves on the works but are not so done that I can show you guys what they look like.  Please check out the tattoo gallery if you’d like to see some other sleeve shots I have in there.  There are a lot of tattoos I’ve done that are missing from these galleries which is something I will try to remedy some time soon.

Thanks for stopping by.

I’m done for now.

Sink a fork in me. :-)

Other types of art.

The past few weeks have been a little hectic around here,  between tattooing and working on projects time just slips away from me.

As I am lucky enough to have found this few minutes to post something new, I will take a short cut and post pictures easily available to me on my computer.

I’ve been working on a new wood burning collection for this year, don’t know when I will be done and ready to show the whole set, but here is a preview:

Digital painting is something I like to mess with once in a while, here is my last finished digital painting:

And lastly here I will post a random sketch from my latest sketchbook:

Why the hell not just throw in a picture of a couple of pages from my newest tattoo flash set:

These were done in acrylic and colored pencils.

There you have it, a post just for the hell of it.

Thanks for stopping by ;-)

Wearing your heart on your sleeve

I did this one down at Tinata Latina Studio in Hialeah.  It’s always a good time catching up with old clients and placing new work next to stuff I did years ago.

Last time I had seen Loren (tattoo recipient) his arm wasn’t even big enough to accommodate this under it.  So when he first told me on the phone what he wanted, I requested to see him in person first. Sure enough the boy has been eating his protein, because that space was not there before!

Unfortunately, we cannot see in this picture how he can make it beat by flexing. Its actually a pretty cool visual, maybe we can get a video sometime.

—————

I’ve actually spent most of this week sick, so If you have tried to get in touch with me and have not been able to is because I was miserable and feeling like ass.   So… don’t be too hostile when I call you to reschedule your appointments.  Thanks :-)

Sergio’s Sleeve

This here is something I’ve worked on for about four years.  I was able to finally take some pictures that did not include red “fresh” areas in my last trip to Miami.

Not all the work displayed is by me. I did not do, but possibly touched up:  The graffiti lettering, the Kanji (Japanese letter), the skull by the armpit,  the silhouetted dude,  and the word “soldier”.

Everything else is done by yours truly.

People get confused and worried about what they want as a tattoo.  They don’t trust their own judgment and taste. This sleeve is a good example that sticking  to  things  you like, no matter how silly they may sound to other people, You can come up with a very interesting and unique tattoo.

It’s like a fellow artist told me once when he saw this piece: “It’s what a sleeve supposed to look like, a bunch of random ass stuff thrown nicely together.”

Armageddon renaissance flying on a boat?

Sometimes I forget to add some pictures to my galleries; there are so many, and between MySpace, FaceBook, and the site there’s bound to be a few forgotten ones.

Other times, the person with the tattoo on them might snap a picture that  makes for a better showcase of the work than any picture I’ve taken. This is one of those:

Thanks for the picture Bobby!
